response for - Petty Theft is one example of a misdemeanor that usually consist of fines and restitution, however depending on the amount stolen and if there is any prior charges the person has the punishment could be different. Petty theft in my state is anything under $1000 dollars but you are still arrest and finger printed but usually given a citation and let go. As of January 2024 in my state if you have two theft charges within 10 years it is an automatic felony. This could be extensive fines, restitution, and even jail time in some cases. When it comes to automatic felony crimes I was thinking about embezzlement but another one would be insurance fraud. This is when a business owner intentionally does something harmful to his or her business in the intention of collecting the insurance money. This is a very serious crime and is punishable by fines, court fees, restitution and prison time. Often times business owners get away with this the first time, however will then open another business and attempt the same scam and get caught, however many get caught their first attempt. Having a good understanding of these crimes as a business owner will allow you to run your business properly and accordingly to the law without any repercussions. However if the business owner is unwilling to understand or does not understand the severity of these crimes and how it will affect not only their business but their lives over all, then their business will ultimately fail
