RESPONSE POSTS Detailed, well developed ideas: illustrates understanding of the topic and its related concepts including original ideas 40 (20 per response) Student engaged classmates: student replied to the posts made by the instructor and other students (up until Sunday evening); student's posts & replies relate directly to the weekly topic by exploring the various aspects (details) through discussing or debating the topic and adding original ideas to the content with textbook or other citations for support. Each additional post is at least 45 complete sentences with proper grammar and spelling. Response to instructors request for additional information to initial post does NOT count as one of the required response posts. Discussion Post 2 Activity duration estimates are an important part of the project management process. It allows the managers to guess how long tasks will take and create a project schedule. Activity duration estimates are the approximations of how much time a project will take, can be in form of different time periods, days, hours, minutes, months, weeks, years, and usually prefers to work or business periods. It can also help estimate the cost of these activities. To make these estimates, managers have to study the scope of the project. The length of the project activity often depends on the availability and skill sets of team members who can complete them. Theres 6 techniques that can used. Analogous Estimating, project managers base their estimates on historical data, the duration values of previous projects. Parametric Estimating, Project managers base their guesses on statistical calculations. They study the values of work time per unit in the past projects. Example,a manager can estimate a activity of nine days to build 3 walls on a project or if a team takes 1 hour to paint a wall, may take them 10 hours to paint 10 walls. Expert Judgement, is the process of consulting an expert in the eld for an activity duration estimate. They may get expert advice from someone whose been in the eld or has done similar projects for a long time, like 3 to 5 years experience. Group Decision-Making, Managers might consult their team members to make a group decision about a project. To include your team, I think is a better choice than most of these techniques. I think having a good team is very important, it also makes the team feel included and makes them feel good about the project. Three-Point Estimating, project managers came up with 3 data points: "optimistic, pessimistic, and most likely" "Optimistic" means ideal duration. "Pessimistic" means worst case scenario. These represent the upper and lower bounds that a activity is not likely to exceed unless there is a big unexpected problem. So the manager takes these numbers and convert these numbers into a nal estimate using a triangle, its called PERTlBeta distribution method. The triangular Calculation Formula: F=( O+FM+DP)/ 3 Distribution Method: F=(0+4M+DP)/6 Bottom-up Estimating, A project manager estimates the duration of the minor components of project activity and adds them together to get a final activity duration. Out of all 6 methods, I think the group decision making is the best option, because team work makes the project a success. It motivates the team workers to do their best and motivates them to want to be a part of the project, it makes you feel good to be a part of something important. Sometimes you need help from your team to do the best. https:l/smallbusiness.chron.com/sixmethods-estimation-acitivity-duration-project-management41782.html https:l/ww.indeed .Com/career-advice/ca reer-development/activity-duration-estimates Word count: 475 Discussion Question: Discuss at least four potential problems in creating accurate duration estimates for activities and two methods for dealing with each potential problem.
