Transformational leadership and transactional leadership are very different from each other. They are different on the surface-level as well as in-depth to each leadership style. Let's first start with transformational leadership. Transformational leadership builds on vision, inspiration, and long-term development. This style also prioritizes creativity and innovation. Transformational leadership is also often done in teams and is very inclusive. Transactional leadership is built on rewards/punishments based on performance and is usually used for short-term results. This style is often based around strict rules and processes and is done on a more individual level. I would say that I fit in more with transformational leadership. In my position we focus a lot on long-term goals and developing employees. Transformational leadership is helping leaders grow due their creative thinking mentality. Innovation and creative thinking are one of the best ways to grow your team and as a leader. Some of the best characteristics to have are active listening, willingness to accept responsibility, and openness to new thinking.
