Review the scenario and business rules provided and draw a Crows foot ERD.

Instructions for the ERDs:

List the entities AND attributes.

Show the relationships, connectivity, AND cardinality. Be sure to label all relationships.

Convert all M:N relationships using composite entities.

Identify the primary key(s) in each entity. (underline with solid line or notate with PK indicator).

Place foreign keys as necessary and notate the foreign key (underline with dotted line or notate with FK indicator).

Include all other extended ER modeling notations as necessary.

All attributes should be single valued attributes.

Use proper naming conventions for entities and attributes.

Use a data modeling tool such as LucidChart to create your ERD. NOTE: HAND DRAWN ERDs will not be accepted.

Copy and paste your ERD into a document and save as a PDF. Save the document and upload using the assignment link provided in eLearning.

You will be graded on appropriate naming conventions for entities, attributes, and relationships and an appropriate representation of the business rules. State any assumptions you have made.

Create a complete Crows Foot ERD with the following business rules:

Rosies Green Thumb wants a database to record garden services. The company wants to maintain data on owners, properties, and services. They also want to track equipment and how it is used during services. Equipment can be either manual or automatic. If the equipment is automatic, then Rosie wants to know details about the motor and fuel requirements.

Regarding properties, Rosie has determined that most of the properties it services are too large and complex to be described in one record. The company wants the database to allow for many subproperty descriptions of a property. Thus, a particular property will have at least one or more subproperty descriptions such as Front Garden, Back Garden, Second-Level Courtyard, and so on. For better accounting, services are to be related to the subproperties rather than to the overall property.

Owners have an owner first and last name, contract start date, phone, and email of the primary owner.

Properties have a location (address, city, state, zip) and a name.

Owners may own multiple properties, each owner on record owns at least one property. A property is owned by only one owner, a property may exist without an owner assigned.

For equipment, Rosie wants to track the equipment name, type, date acquired, and condition (new or used). Equipment can be either manual or automatic, it cant be both types. If the equipment is automatic Rose wants to track the motor and fuel type and date of last oil change.

Services are important to Rosie. For each service, she wants to track the start and end date, service type, a brief description, cost, and estimated hours.

A service is performed on one subproperty. A service cant exist without a related subproperty. A subproperty can have zero or more service records.

A service uses equipment. A service can use one or more pieces of equipment and each equipment can be used in zero or more service records.

Submit your completed ERD as a .pdf document using the link provided in eLearning.
