Review this case incident:

You are a senior manager responsible for talent management in an organization. You have recently been appointed to head up an innovation committee that has been struck to develop innovations across the company, which will result in competitive advantage. The team is cross-functional in nature, with department heads expected to bring innovative ideas that can be implemented in their functional areas of accountability.

As the leader of the group, you want to start the group off on the right direction and get them excited about the opportunities. Some of the team are having difficulty understanding the mandate of the group. In order to help them better understand what needs to be done, you want to be the first person on the team to bring forward an innovation that everyone in the company will benefit from - that is in your area of accountability. You have decided to focus on innovation in training and development.

Step 1: Research training and development innovations and prepare a pitch to the team on a training innovation that will put the organization ahead of your competitors in terms of recruitment and retention strategies and that will deliver value to all stakeholders.

Step 2: You will complete a four-page, report that includes the following: Different innovations that you considered; How innovation in training and development positively impacts other HR strategies such as recruitment and retention; A recommendation on the innovation you have selected, how it aligns with the training and development strategy and organizational strategies of the organization; What you will need from the other departmental managers on the team to move the innovation forward.
