Rig Heli-Pads, Inc. enters into a contract to employ Steve as an onsite project manager for two years. If Rig breaches the contract, Steve has a duty to: Sue Rig in order to deter it and other similar companies from committing similar acts in the future. Attempt, utilizing reasonable efforts, to find a similar job. Focus on self-improvement: Go back to school to improve his job skills, work on improving his interpersonal skills, and/or employ a life coach. Do nothing: Sit on his couch and eat Fruit Loops in his boxer shorts. Find any sort of job within a reasonable period of time because Steve, like all contractual parties, has the duty to mitigate his damages (and so does a party who is injured by a tortfeasor, for that matter).
