Robert Malthus argued that an ever-increasing population would continually strain society's ability to provide for itself and mankind was doomed forever to live in poverty. Since his prediction in 1798, the world population has increased six fold. Worldwide living standards have increased and malnutrition is less common. Why was Malthus wrong?
