$7-$segment LED $($light emitting diode$)$ displays have long been used in digital systems to

display numeric data for an operators display. Examples include digital speedometers in

cars and time displays in electronic clocks to name but two.

A $7$ segment LED display derives its name from the fact that the display is composed of $7$

individual leds, labelled a$-$g arranged in such a way that by controlling which of the le
