roject Summary he Doctor's House Revitalization Project was a success, and the town is continuing with another project to iupport its strategic objectives. This project is to design and construct a multi-use path on the north and outh sides of Main Street. The path will run from Abbott Street to North Street, a distance of about 2.9 silometers, resulting in a total path length of 5.8 kilometers. Budget for the entire project has been capped at $475,000. Project Cost Analysis Removal of existing sidewalk is estimated to cost $12 per meter, and construction of the new asphalt pathway, $65 per metre. Removal of other infrastructure items such as telephone poles and signs will be a flat rate of approximately $2,200. Bike racks are to be installed at both ends on both the north and south sides. Bike racks are estimated to cost $370 each. Benches are to be installed along the path. The feasibility study included eight (8) benches at a cost of $390 per bench. Installation of new signage has been estimated at $4,850. The Peacevale Horticultural Society has again generously agreed to complete the landscaping. The mayor has agreed to a budget of $3,500 for materials (plants, ground covering, etc.), which should be sufficient as the horticultural society has access to materials at cost through the local nursery. Tree protection was a concern, so an inventory of existing trees was completed as part of the feasibility study. Healthy trees that are not directly in the path of construction will be protected. Any trees showing signs of disease, or trees that are directly in the path of construction will be removed. The task of protecting existing trees has increased the cost of the landscaping portion of the project. Although the horticultural society has again offered their services, the town will have to pay for the services of an arborist at a cost of $5,400
