Sabira is designing a study for their classes research proposal, where they are interested in studying the effects of a new memory enhancing drug on spatial navigation and memory. The sample consists of 18-25-year-old college students from UCSB. Sabira plans that participants will come into the lab and be told that they are going to navigate through a maze while being observed by an experimenter. The experimenter will randomly assign them to receive a placebo drug or the memory enhancing drug, and then rate how efficiently the participants solve the maze based on their own observations (1=not at all efficiently, 7=extremely efficiently). Participants will also be asked to self-report how easy or difficult it was for them to remember what they did in the maze. Participants will be solving the spatial navigation maze on a 2-D computer screen. Participants know that the study is on memory enhancing drugs, but they will not know that there is a placebo, so they will likely assume that they received the new memory enhancing drug.
