The new firm buys its items on 90-day credit, and bills its customers in cash. The company bought packaging machines for a total $30 k with a loan from a local bank that charges 5% annual interest on the remaining balance. The packing machines are expected to have an economic life of 7 years. The loan is to be repaid in 5 years. All expenses will grow at the expected annual inflation rate of 1.2%.

Salaguay Inc. has hired you to prepare a forecasted income statement, balance sheet and a cash budget for the next 5 years (on a yearly basis). Individually, prepare the required forecasts. You can assume the tax rate is 20% on profits, which are paid in cash in the year that they are incurred. The new venture is to start operations with an initial cash balance of $1 k provided by the 3 owners, in equal parts. The company carries 2 months-worth of finished goods inventory as a buffer against sudden surges in demand. The company wants to keep a minimum cash balance of 1 moth worth of overhead cost.
