Sandy and Scott have been living together for a few years and are known throughout the neighborhood for their loud domestic disturbances. The local law enforcement officers all know the address because they have been called numerous times by the neighbors. On this occasion, the neighbors called reporting Sandy and Scott in an argument that had escalated to shots fired and screaming. Law enforcement officers arrive at Scott and Sandy's residence to find both Scott and Sandy in the yard. Sandy is holding a gun and Scott is bleeding from the arm. Upon approach from the officers, Scott begins saying that he accidentally shot himself in the arm when he was cleaning his gun. Sandy had a bruise on her left eye and looked like she had been crying. Scott was holding his arm and needed medical attention. The law enforcement officers called the paramedics and took more detailed statements from Sandy, Scott, and the neighbors. While standing outside of the residence, a law enforcement officer looks inside the window. He sees what he recognizes as methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to manufacture methamphetamine on a coffee table in the living room. He enters the residence and seizes the methamphetamine and lab components. Scott and Sandy are both arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance. At a pretrial hearing, Scott's attorney moves to suppress the methamphetamine and lab components as fruits of an illegal search.
