Sandy is the new sales person for the social market at her hotel. She has an opportunity to book a wedding ceremony and reception for 300 people to be held on a Saturday 15 months from now. The bride and groom are from two wealthy local families, and they want this to be a luxurious event with a five-course dinner, champagne, and hosted bar. Sandy was very excited about this opportunity until she approached her Director of Sales (DOS) about it. The director reminded her of the restrictions on local catering sales and would not allow her to book the wedding. The director instructed her to keep in touch with the bride and groom, and if the space is still available three months from now (which is one year in advance of the date), and if the bride and groom have not committed elsewhere, she can book it.
