SAVASAS is a 25-year old company specialized on manufacturing luxury railway coaches and located in Adapazar. The company is a Make-To-Order company and mainly gets its orders from Turkish National Railway Transportation Company but time to time it manufactures the same luxury coaches for European Railway Companies. The company manufactures some major components of the coach, but important portion of the parts are purchased from hundreds of suppliers. On average, the number of components that go to the final assembly of a coach is around 18,000. The company is organized in two stages, namely fabrication and assembly. However, the majority of the operations is assembly operations. To maintainthe timely delivery of the contracted coaches the company always work under tight schedule and even the minor delay in procuring the parts used in assembly operations would cause some serious delays in delivering the product. The company has number of different machines, equipment as well as assembly stations in the shop floor. The major management operations are done using an ERP software system, which covers planning, control, quality inspection, inventory, purchasing, MRP, master scheduling and operation scheduling, finance, accounting and human resource management. The data collected manually and is stored on a hard disk on a local server. All the major machines and equipment as well as management offices are connectedthrough a closed-loop local area network. The company also uses several off-line engineering software systems for different purposes such as CAD, CAM, process planning, machining, and assembly. The data needed is obtained from the central manufacturing data base, which is an off-line traditional SQL based data base management system. The company, after all, may be counted as a partially automated system. The company has more than several thousandsuppliers and all the communication and other operations are done by either email or telephone system.Because of this poor communication system, there are some frequent interruptions in communications or there may be some serious misunderstanding which may cause either delivery timing problems or wrong quantities of the purchased items are delivered, which both cases cause some serious problems for the company. The company has recently invited several experts from a local university to get some ideas how they could improve the overall system performance not to face any late delivery problems. The experts advised the company to transform the organization into an Industry 4.0 smart factory to boost the companys performance.Further they advised that companyshould start networking all the machines and equipment and the entire enterprise to make sure it is suitable for IoT-based networking.Further, the company has been suffering from poor data management and processing, the experts advised that the data management must be compatible with smart systems and therefore, it must comply with the IoT networking considering the thousands of suppliers within the value chain. The current ERP system, which is an old fashion off-line system must also be compatible with the smart factory.Based on this short story:

What sort of expertise would you advise to this factory to employ to operate the factory properly, list them with their functionalitiesand justify your decision.
