Scenario 1:

ABC Corp. has just built three new buildings on two acres of property. Each building houses a different department. Each department currently needs only a server to store their department data, and at least 40 workstations. ABC Corp expects that each department will need up to 50% more workstations within the next 5 years. Within each department, there is expected to be up to 550 Mbps of network traffic during peak working hours.

Each department wants full control over their own server. There is some file sharing that needs to occur between departments. However, the biggest interdepartmental data sharing need occurs after hours--each night the data on each departments server needs to be backed up, with backup copies transmitted and stored on the servers in the other buildings.

Initially this site for ABC Corp. was given five standard Class C networks to use for this project, however most of that address space was unexpectedly taken for other projects. New information has just come from corporate headquarters: only one standard Class C network is now available for this project:

200.200.0.0

Scenario 2:

ABC Corp. just decided to create a second site right next to the first site for which you just created a design. Nevertheless, no additional IP address space is available beyond the two class C networks noted previously.

The needs of the first 3 buildings remains the same, with the addition of needing to connect to data storage in a fourth building. This fourth building will house a data storage center that will require 24 servers, 5 of which will store highly sensitive data that needs to be on a separate network from everything else. This building will also include several meeting rooms that require up to 10 workstations for guest use. A small office for building administration and maintenance will use up to 5 workstations. Network traffic for building administration, guest use, and data storage should be kept separate from one another for security reasons.

Questions:

What is the network broadcast address for the guest workstations in Building 4?

1. 200.200.0.224

2. 200.200.0.231

3. 200.200.0.223

4. 200.200.0.239

5. None of these are correct

6. 200.200.0.240

Consider the internetwork design you created in Part 2 of the assignment. If you were asked to carve out an additional network from the same address space, and it only had to be large enough to handle a maximum of 6 hosts, which among the following responses would be the BEST response?

1. Sorry, this can't be done unless a maximum of 4 host addresses.

2. Sorry, this can't be done without more address space.

3. Yes, we can add a /31 subnet.

4. Yes, we can add a /30 subnet.

5. Sorry, this can't be done unless a maximum of 2 host addresses are needed for this additional network.

6. Yes, we have exactly enough address space for this.
