BOB makes furniture for cats and people. DDD chose a design and sent BOB a draft contract. BOB returned the contract, signed. A week later BOB asked for confirmation, as it had another client who also wanted work done and it could not do both in the timeframe. DDD did not sign the contract because it was not sure if it wanted to sign, as it was still seeking quotes from other suppliers. However, DDD told BOB: "We will definitely sign the contract as we want you to do the work for that price". On the basis of this conversation, BOB declined the other job and began to work on the job for DDD. When the work was almost complete, Claire called by DDD to advise that DDD had decided not to sign the contract. BOB was able to sell the furniture to a pet shop for the same price. However, the company is angry and still wants DDD to pay the money.
