- Herman= student - Storm = previous ENGL 30-1 instructor - Dante=current ENGL 30-1 instructor Herman is studying at NorQuest College for academic upgrading. He is currently taking ENGL 30-1, and his instructor is Storm. Herman needs to submit a film study report (worth 10% of the final grade). For this assignment, he can write about any film of his choice. While thinking about how to proceed, he remembers his old film study report from his ENGL 20-1 class last term. He remembers his old instructor, Dante, being impressed and giving him a remarkably high mark of 90%. Herman finds his old report, changes the cover, and then submits it to Storm. A few days after submission, Storm announces her promotion. She unfortunately can no longer teach because of her new role, but she explains a new instructor will be teaching the class from now on; the new instructor happens to be Dante. While marking the reports that Storm never got to, Dante notices how Herman's paper looks awfully familiar. He goes to his inbox and finds Herman's submission from last term. He compares both writings, and they are 100% identical. Dante sends an email to Herman about his discovery. He asks Herman if he had been given Storm's permission to re-submit his old paper before he handed it in. When Herman replies "no," he explains that according to the college's Academic Misconduct procedure, submitting all or a substantial portion of academic work that was submitted for credit in another course without prior permission is considered as cheating.
