Scenario:

(i) The project tuto.r sends Email to the companies to ask for projects. Companies provide an outline specification of each potential project. The projects tuto.r liaises with the company as necessary to obtain detail on the project and makes a decision on whether to approve it or not. A Company may forward many approved projects and different contact names may be given in each case. When the project tuto.r received the approved projects, he will then categorise the approved projects according to speciality or type such as analysis, design and management. The list of approved projects is shown to the students and they can view the project outline before they make a selection as to which projects they would like to do. Each student may select up to three projects and a project may be selected by up to three students. The project tuto.r then assigns the projects to the students, trying as far as possible to satisfy choices made.

(ii) When students have been allocated to the projects, the tuto.r assigns the chosen project to two members of staff to supervise each project. One is the first supervisor and the other is the second supervisor. The project tuto.r then sends the project acceptance details to the companies to inform them whether or not their project has been selected. The first supervisor must make an initial visit to the company with the student to set the project objectives and must make a mid-project and end-of-project visit. The student will then enter the objectives of the project to the system. During the project execution, the student is required to prepare weekly progress reports. The final report will be submitted at the end of the project execution. At the end of the project period, both supervisors must sit together to assess the work carried out based on a submitted report. The supervisors then enter the assessment result to the system. The system will then print out the final result.
