Task 1 An accident has been reported in the workshop involving a member of staff whilst using overhead lifting equipment. The staff member was taken to hospital and has broken an arm and will be absent from work for one month minimum Aside from the costs to the company in the form of sick pay, the injured member of staff is the only employee trained and qualified to use the lifting equipment. They are also a key member of the production team, and their absence is seriously affecting output.
