Scenario

You are the manager of Ihop and the owner has expressed concern over some declining sales in the last 12 months. The owner has given you the task of finding ways to bring in more customers, especially for lunchtime hours. You have done some research and found out that the adjacent office building has quite a few businesses in it with employees who frequently dine together to discuss business. You have decided to reach out to each office and offer some type of discount/promotion to get them to come in for lunch or host a workplace outing there in the next month. You figure it would get people in the door and they would spread the word to others of quality food and good service.

Your Task make an email to Trina Deal, the manager of ING Financial Partners, persuading her to host her next lunch meeting at your restaurant. Use the AIDA writing approach for this business message and be sure to mention any deals you are offering in the next month.

Grading

Format/Document Design (2): this is an email so it is fairly straightforward. Be sure to include your header lines (To, From, Date, Subject), along with a proper greeting and salutation/ signature block. You can view a sample of the email format in Appendix A in your text.

Content (6 points): For this persuasive business message you will be using the AIDA writing approach (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action). I will look for all four elements and grading on each being clear in their appropriate sections (opening, body, and closing). You will also be graded on the quality of the subject line, providing logical reasons (beware of logical fallacies, presented on page 227 in your text) and evidence, and positive language with a 'you-view.' Finally, this is an EMAIL so it should not be lengthy paragraphs; use bullet points as needed and be as concise as possible.
