After a detailed inspection of the period's transactions the following errors were found: 1) Durban paid 640 of his personal funds into the business bank account. The transaction was entered as a debit to the bank account and a credit to the sales account. 2) A cash payment of 80 for maintenance was credited to both cash account and maintenance account 3) A cheque payment for wages of 560 was correctly was correctly recorded in the bank account but was then debited to the rent account. 4) A bank withdrawal of 320 was correctly recorded in the bank account but no other entry was made. The amount was for the personal use of Durban. 5) Cash receipt of 630 were correctly recorded into the cash account but was recorded (credit) to trades receivable account as 360. 6) A cash receipt of 530 was correctly recorded in the cash account but no other entry was made. The receipt was actually cash sales. Required: a. Record the journal entries for above six transactions. (6 Marks) b. Prepare the Suspense 'T' account to show how the suspense account is cleared by the correction of the errors shown above. (7 Marks) c. What is 'Suspense Account' and why it is used? (2 Marks)
