Security is critical for the future of any business, especially a Correctional Facility. In prisons and jails, the responsibility of any officer is the care and safety of the inmates. Officers must display strong organizational skills, fully know their position, have Integrity, serve as a positive role model, be respectful, and most of all, be humanistic, to name a few (Olitsky, 2012). Their purpose serves a lot for the organization. Keeping order and discipline within the facility while being in units with dangerous inmates who are living in strenuous conditions (such as extreme deprivation, lack of privacy, sexual frustration, and many more) (Olitsky, 2012) can be a lot on the officers as well as the facility. Having order in a jail influences the mission statement, I say that because once a jail is out of order and chaotic, the staff are then all over the place and not on the same page. If something does occur, then the staff would need to meet to see what can be done moving forward and how things can be done to control the facility.
