Scenario You are the vice president of Human Resources for a large toy company. A few employees contacted HR today complaining they are not receiving overtime pay although they have worked overtime to get merchandise delivered to the stores in time for the holidays. You recall hearing the general manager tell the distribution manager last week at the staff meeting to limit overtime because it would negatively impact his labor budget. You are concerned about the war in Israel. Antisemitism has increased 388% since October 7th. Since you have many employees of various nationalities and religions, you schedule a mandatory all-employee meeting to be held next week. While putting together your presentation for the employee meeting, you are interrupted by your secretary. She wants to take off work to care for her nieces and nephews because their dad, her brother, has just been activated into active duty military. While speaking to your secretary about her taking time off, your employee relations manager interrupts you saying that he needs to bring something to your attention. He said that the young marketing intern from LSIJA told him the Marketing Director makes her feel uncomfortable because he makes sexual innuendos to her when no one else is around.
