It is discussed in this article that companies which used to be in a competitive position failed due to failed cost strategies. US steel producers for example produce a ton of cold-rolled sheet steel for $35 less than their Japanese counterpart in 1956 and by 1976, Japanese companies were producing a ton for $35 less than their American competitors.

This particular information teaches us that wise business decisions is important in our business careers and in order to achieve that, it is important that we will use lessons from business decisions made in the past so that past failures will not be repeated in present days. The strategies discussed in the article, the failures presented provided a wider understanding of the business world which can be used in future decisions and strategies.
