SH$-$Explain the effect of different heat treatments on the microstructures of a medium carbon steel at slow and fast cooling rates. Draw schematically and discuss the possible microstructures that will occur after both heat treatments in the sample. Comment also the effect of the applied heat treatment on the mechanical properties of the material.
