1. Share a time you overcame a complex intellectual endeavor or metacognated outside of the classroom.
2. Share your own experiences of "Blue Collar Brilliance." Have you ever underestimated another person's aptitude based on bias of class or occupation; has anyone ever surprised you with unconventional cleverness, crucial competency or unexpected erudition? Do not claim to have never underestimated another's abilities.
3. Following from "Where All Confident Idiots," share a time you've been a "confident idiot" or "lie witness." Do not claim to have never feigned knowledge.
4. Following from "The Danger of a Single Story," have you ever fallen for a "single story"? Have you ever been subjected to a single story; how did you negotiate the impertinent interpellation or assigning of social value to your place in society? Do not claim to have never fallen for an oversimplification or been subjected to one.
5. What is "agnotology"? What's a pernicious falsehood believed by millions of people? Does anyone profit from this particular misunderstanding? In the "Man who Studies Ignorance", Kenyon mentions propaganda by the tobacco and fossil fuel industries; can you think of any other topics that might be examined under the study of agnotology, which is the study of "doubt, misinformation, and propaganda"?
6. What's an "in group" "sacrosanct egoism" you hold? What does Richardson in Unit 2 mean when he says "our ideas are not us"? Is there a cognitive bias you feel particularly susceptible to? Do not claim to have no bias; claiming not to have any cognitive bias is a strong indication of confirmation and ego bias.
