Engaging stakeholders in policy change is an essential part of furthering social work practice. Some of the ways to do this can include identifying the important stakeholders to engage based on the policy, building strong relationships with the stakeholders and creating a shared vision (Kujala et. al., 2022). When a policy is identified that is needed to be changed, it is important to identify what stakeholders have influence over this change and who is the most beneficial individuals to build relationships with. In order to successfully engage the identified stakeholders, it is important to develop a strong relationship. This is done through consistent communication, collaboration and frequent meetings to build trust and willingness to support the change. Finally, developing a clear vision in collaboration with the stakeholder is important. This will allow social workers to advocate for the benefits of the policy change while allowing the stakeholders to communicate their needs and goals. This will allow a goal of policy change that has a direct impact on the individuals at hand while aligning to the stakeholder's goals and values.
