  1. Simon has worked for Yarrod and Co for 13 years. He is taking Long Service Leave. He received a payment of $6,000 on 23 June 2024 but will not be taking his leave until 2 July 2024.
  2. He lent $20,000 at 10% interest to his friend Piper on 1 July 2022. The condition was that both the principal and interest would be paid by Piper to Simon on 30 June 2023. Piper was late with her payment; it was received by Simon on 8 July 2023.
  3. Simon operates a small business as a private piano teacher and charges $1,000 for 10 lessons in advance. His records indicate that during the year ended 30 June 2024 he had received $10,000 in lesson fees. He had not delivered 45 of the lessons for which he had been paid.
  4. Being cleverer than most Simon applied to enter a television quiz show. He was successful and beat the other competitors. He won $100,000 in cash and $8,000 in goods. Due to his success, he was invited to another quiz show and given $5,000 as an incentive to sign up. All payments were received in March 2024.
  5. In addition to the Long Service Leave payment from Yarrod and Co, during the 2024 year Simon received the following payments, $80,000 salary, $6,000 car allowance and $1,000 entertainment allowance.
