Since you are all now accomplished programmers and can construct a betting program - here are a few of the more interesting code challenge sites. I ask that that you go to at LEAST two of them. Many have solutions also so you can see what others have done. I particularly like Rosetta code as many of the problems have solutions in literally HUNDREDS of languages. Read two, pick one and select what you think would be an interesting challenge to attempt in Python. Do you think you will have the skills before the end of the class?
Project Euler -
Rosetta Code -
Code Chef - Holds monthly programming contests, which can be downloaded too
Coderbyte - Another coding competition site
The Python Challenge - A pretty cool & very difficult challenge
Code Golf Stack Exchange - A programming challenge with a twist
Anarchy Golf - Another place to golf
Python Solutions to the 99 Prolog Problems - Gives the solution but still a good place to go & check the code.
Code Kata - A blog with a set of really good problems
Bring Your Own Code(BYOC) - Has problems a bit more interesting than the normal, boring stuff
Codingbat - A good place for beginners
