In general, you and your group should follow the 6 step process below in preparing written case analyses: Step 1: Carefully read the case, making sure you understand it fully; Step 2: Identify the area of law involved and the legal issue(s) presented; Step 3: Set out the elements or requirements that must be shown to address the legal issue(s); Step 4: Analyse the case to determine whether each required element or requirement is present regarding each legal issue raised by the case; Step 5: Sometimes it is also necessary to analyse whether there are defenses available that would eliminate or reduce the amount of liability include this in your analysis; and, Step 6: Present your decision(s)/conclusion(s), showing that they are based on (and consistent with) your analysis
