social factors and cultural/just factors present (CRSJ) in the following story with references and citations within the pass 7 years.
I have been feeling increasingly anxious, stressed, overwhelmed and my procrastination has not gotten any better. I am 35 years of age and identify as an African Canadian female; this racial identity has been a source of stress for me since my teenage years, as I was continuously bullied throughout high school in Jackson TN. for being "African who happened to be from the Central of Ghana, where most of the Slaves from West Africa were transported(shipped)." "THE GATE OF NO RETURN," is in my Village and this was brough to the attention of my mates during world history class. My parents are African Canadians, both born in Ghana with strict parenting style that place significant importance on self-discipline and hard work. My father is highly critical and places a great deal of pressure on me to be successful academically and professionally. I constantly feel overwhelmed by my kids, work, and academic pressures. The feel of guilt having a social life instead of studying has led me to completely isolate myself, over the past few months.
I was born and raised in Ghana and moved to U.S.A. to stay with my dad and two other siblings in 2007, while my mom and other three siblings already here in Canada. That was my first time I had travelled from Ghana living away other relatives and close friends. In my teenage years, I developed a close relationship with my oldest sister and my father, and over the years I have become increasingly dependent on them financially and for a sense of security; my sister especially helped me through abusive relationship and were always there to give advice and guide me. I put a great deal of pressure on myself to excel in all areas of life, especially academically. I constantly feel overwhelmed and burnt out because no matter how much effort I put into something; I am never satisfied.
