Social identity theory is a multifaceted social psychological theory of how people's self-conceptions as members of social groups influence intergroup behavior and group processes (Hughes, Kiecolt, Keith, & Demo, 2015). In social identity theory, a social identity is a person's awareness of belonging to a social category or group, together with the value and emotional significance of belonging (Tajfel, 1978 ). Do you agree or disagree with the tenets of this theory? Would your experience confirm or deny your experiences?
