Some things leaders can do is to examine their blind spots (Leading Effectively Staff, 2020). There are things that I don't know or understand without having been in another person's shoes; by asking questions and trying to learn, I can be more aware of what others go through and have to deal with. A second way a leader can be inclusive is to listen to understand. When people are telling their story, it is important to hear what they are saying and understand them, not merely wait until your turn to talk. Additionally, leaders can consult with people outside of their circle (Lockwood Primus, 2021). If leaders ask everyone's opinion, the team will feel valued and included. Finally, I think leaders can encourage feedback from the team on how they are performing as an inclusive leader. There are anonymous surveys that allow people to share their thoughts; by asking for feedback, leaders can evaluate their own performance
