Sometime in year 2011, Pedro posted in his Facebook social media account malicious statement against Juana citing the latter to be a gold digger and engage into illicit relationships with various married men. The said post was seen by many mutual friends of Pedro and Juana. In 2012, Republic Act (RA) No. 10175 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 was enacted. Seeking relief for the humiliation suffered, Juana charged Pedro for the said malicious post for cyber libel after the enactment of RA 10175.
