contract in terms of which John will paint Sonja's kitchen on 1st of June 2020 at a

fee of R20,000.00 (twenty thousand rand).

Consider the form of breach committed by either party in the scenarios described

below. identify and explain the breach, in your own

words, with reference to the facts.

Q.2.1.1 On the 1st of June 2020 John fails to arrive to paint Sonja's

kitchen. Sonja eventually telephones John and he informs

her that he has gone away for a holiday and will only return

in one month's time.

Q.2.1.2 On the 1st of June 2020 John arrives at Sonja's home. John

rings the doorbell and waits for fifteen minutes. Then a

neighbour informs him that Sonja is attending a

conference out of town and is returning only on 10 June

2020.

Q.2.1.3 On 1 June 2020 John arrives and paints Sonja's kitchen.

Sonja returns home to find that her kitchen has been

painted bright orange instead of ivory white as per her

contract with John. Furthermore, John applied one coat of

paint instead of the two coats that was agreed upon in the

contract.

Q.2.1.4 On the 1st of May 2020 John posts the following message on

his Facebook page: "Friends, family I wish to inform you

that I am giving up my painting career to become a priest."
