Spector (2021) suggests that work motivation theories are more concerned with the reasons, other than ability, that some people perform their jobs much better than others do. He further explains that these motivational theories can determine people's choices with their work efforts and behavior depending on particular situations. Past studies claim that two main types of work motivation have been used to explain motivational issues, job satisfaction, and what effects these aspects have on work behavior (Lundberg et al., 2009). However, Spector explains several in his text that cover various theories that view employee motivation from different perspectives. For this discussion, the expectancy theory explains how rewarding a person affects their behavior toward overall motivation. In the workplace, employee rewards and recognition are often present in organizations. Bondi et al., (2023) claim that rewards and recognition encourage long-term retention and allow further advancement in one's profession. The perception of the expectancy theory is the likelihood that one's efforts will lead to good performance and that good performance will lead to desired outcomes (Gyepi-Garbrah et al., 2023). For example, an employee performs exceptionally well during a fiscal year, knowing that if their performance is favorable, they will receive a favorable bonus
