The material properties of the bars are described above The bars are initially heated to 100C, and at t = 0 their ends are attached to perfect heat sinks at temperature 0C. (a) Which bar reaches equilibrium first? Explain. (b) Now suppose that the bars are joined with perfect contact between their surfaces, as shown in the image. The left end is held at temperature 100C, and the right end isheld at 0C. Now, In addition to the boundary conditions at x = = 0 and x = 2L = 1.6, there are now boundary conditions at the junction (x = L = 0.8) . What are these additional conditions, and why? (c) Draw a diagram that correctly describes and graphs the steady - state temperature distribution in the bars? T is the y axis, and x (L) is the x axis. Explain this diagram.
