Statistics are often used in popular media to provide strong evidence in support of some argument. Yet, statistics (and research in general) are also commonly misused in ways that may mislead readers/viewers.

1- For this assignment, share an article or short video from a popular news media site that used at least one statistic to make an argument. Briefly explain how the statistic was used.

2- Keeping in mind the TED talk you watched this week from Sanne Blauw, evaluate the use of that statistic. Was the use of that statistic effective or misleading, and why? If you find the statistic potentially misleading, what alternative statistical evidence may have improved the argument?
