Based upon what you read in your text, discuss what your role is in the criminal investigation process. What specific duties would you undertake, and what would your priorities be in performing these tasks? What are the characteristics of a good investigator, and who would you hand the investigation off to after your work is complete?

Step Two:Gatherevidence (law, policy, procedure, data) and evaluate for relevancy: What outside sources can you find on the CSI effect? How do experts feel that it has altered the criminal justice process? Do you agree that the CSI effect is a legitimate phenomenon, and why or why not?

Step Three:Weighmoral considerations and direct/indirect consequences: How do you feel about the CSI effect? Did you have preconceived notions about criminal investigations prior to your study of the material? What were those misconceptions, and how has the reading altered your understanding? What role do you feel is the most important in the investigation process, and why do you feel that way?

Step Four:Writeyour proposal, utilizing the above material.

Step Five:Balanceyour position by addressingalternativesand potential pitfalls.
