Stephen Covey wrote his book, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People," in 1989. This was long before Agile, but he captured many of the ideas that would later form the Agile methodology of project management. One idea was that people should manage their time in weeks, giving themselves time at the end/beginning of each week to reflect and plan. This was effectively defining the same operations and time mangement that is used in Agile today.
