Steps please with numbers
Solve the following absorption process. (20 marks)
A tray tower is to be designed to absorb SO2 from an air stream by using fresh water at 293K. The entering gas contains 10mol%SO2 and that leaving the column should have 1.2mol%SO2 at a total pressure of 101.3 kPa.
The gas flowrate entering the column is 10kgmolh consisting of air with SO2 at 10mol%.
It is desired to use the water flowrate at 2Lmin where Lmin is the minimum solvent (water) flowrate. The equilibrium data can be approximated by the following equation.
y=29.3x
The graph below shows the equilibrium plot.
Assuming that this process can be considered dilute*, determine the following:
a) Determine the minimum water flowrate Lmin and the actual water flowrate, L to be used.
b) Determine the total number of tray required. You can use the graph below or you can draw on your own.
(*Hint: Since it can be considered dilute, you can directly use L and V, no need to convert to L' or V').
Please show your calculations clearly in order to obtain full marks.
