Stopping to take a photo, Furd parks his car facing uphill on a hill in the country, leaving the car in neutral but failing to engage the parking brake. The car roles backward down the hill and strikes a power line pole, knocking it over. The electrical wire ignites a fire in the dry grass which spreads to Elmo's shed. The shed contains dynamite, which explodes from the fire. A piece of the shed's roof hits Taffy while she is driving her convertible on an adjacent road on the other side of Elmo's farm from the road where Furd is located.
