Strategic Compensation Project One

This is a project in Strategic Compensation.

For each job listed, you are required to identify the required behaviors for the job $($using the behavior model that we discussed in class our class$)$ and recommend appropriate forms of compensation $($cash and non$-$cash$)$ to encourage or support the required behaviors.

For each job, you must explain how your compensation recommendations address each of the required behaviors. Use the Pay Mix Model to clarify and explain your recommendations. For each job, the total of the components of the Pay Mix must add up to $100\%.$ If you are recommending Base Pay, understand that it can be either Job based pay OR Market based pay $$ not both. Base pay can also consist of all or partly skill based pay but this is very rare.

Indicate if job should be salaried or hourly. You do NOT have to determine the appropriate amount $($$$)$ of compensation $$ only the mix $\%.$

Note: All five jobs listed are in the $$for profit$$ sector with shares traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Set up your project in a $$Report$$ format rather than an essay.

Grading Rubric: $-$ the project will be graded out of $100.$ Each of the five sections $($Jobs$)$ is worth a possible $20$ marks.

Marks will be allocated as follows:

Identify required behaviors $6$ marks

Recommend compensation strategies to support behaviors $7$ marks

Explain how each recommendation support behaviors $7$ marks

The total Project is worth $25\%$ of your final grade.

This is an individual project and each student must submit their own version of the Assignment. However, feel free to consult and work with other students if you feel that would result in a higher quality end product.

Job One

Security Guard

We are looking for a Security Guard $($Level $1)$ to join our team in North York, Ontario. This is a Full$-$Time position working $40$ hours weekly $($Hours can change based on Operational Needs$).$ Part$-$Time position would be $20$ hours per week.

The incumbent will act as the first$-$line representative to all staff, customers, and clients. A major part of the role involves deterring and protecting the Commercial Site and staff. Must have previous Security Guard experience, Customer Service experience and be Professional in Appearance.

Duties:

$$ You will be responsible for the protection of people, property, facilities and information

$$ Perform detailed and diligent patrols.

$$ Assess disturbances.

$$ Provide support in line management and crowd control

$$ Observe and report daily activities and irregularities to appropriate personnel.

$$ Ensure that all safety and emergency procedures are followed.

Skills Required:

$$ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills while being alert and detail oriented

Cashier
