Students are requested to read widely and answer the following questions on project management. Furthermore, students are required to integrate theory and practise in their answers. The examiner will take into consideration the links to theory and practice and finally the synthesis of the discussion. Students should support their discussions with tables, figures and graphs where possible. General comments Marks in the assessment are primarily awarded for the application of the relevant theory to the requirements of the assessment. Merely reproducing theory is insufficient at postgraduate level. The ability to undertake and reflect on research is a key component to the assessment. The assessment has been assessed in accordance with the following general criteria: - Presentation - Organisation - Analysis and application of theory - Relevance - Coherence - References The expected response to the assessment is outlined above. However, the depth of the theory is such that students may provide answers that may vary. The assessment is therefore assessed by the marker in terms of the relevant theory and marked accordingly. The responses provided by students may not in their entirety be reflected in the marking guide, but could be a satisfactory response to the question. Students are given full recognition for this. Question: Consider the scenario that you are a project manager at Eskom. You have been appointed as a project manager to provide a new substation in a new suburb of the City of Cape Town. Recently your CEO has been interrogated by the public due to non-delivery of high profile projects. Your CEO has personally indicated to you that non-delivery will result in you losing your job. Analyse the following questions and develop your response to each one by clearly showing how you will manage the project using sound project management principles. Foundations of literature include primary and secondary sources Question 4 (20 Marks) In order to manage the timeliness of activities on your project a network diagram is a handy tool to use. Assuming that your project will take 6 months to complete. Design a network diagram for your project using the AON (arrow on node sequencing). Show not less than 10 activities in your network diagram. Determine the critical path and calculate the total duration of your project
