Students are to research 3 scholarly/credible sources specifically focusing on group work with a particular population of interest to the student (for example, youth, seniors, people with specific mental health challenges, diversion, etc.). It is recommended that students discuss their particular population choice with the instructor in advance.

PART ONE

Your paper should answer the following:

1. What topics are of concern for this client population?

2. What are some of the researched benefits of group work for this population/issue?

3. What are some of the considerations that need to be made to offer an effective support group for this population/issue?

Note: at least two sources must be from academic journals. The other 1-2 sources must be credible but can be grey literature (e.g. a group facilitation manuals found online from a crisis centre, etc.)

PART TWO

Refer to the Anti-oppression article to answer the following questions below. *Do not forget to use APA referencing of the article when answering these questions.

1. What important social identity issues need to be considered when facilitating your specific group?

2. How will your group facilitation ensure that socially marginalized group members feel safe in your group?
