SUBJECT: Advance accounting information system

Mei Ling is a manager in a consulting firm and currently performing system analysis for Saguna Berhad to determine the feasibility of integrating payroll function with other unit in the organization. Mei Ling ask Rama, who is newly appointed staff to perform a system survey by interviewing a payroll supervisor and learn as much possible about payroll operations. Rama had to perform this task alone as Mei Ling wanted to ensure Rama can explore on his own and learn this new experience. The payroll supervisor was not being informed earlier about the interview session as it needs to be done immediately. Rama introduced himself and said, Your company has hired us to study how your department works so we can make recommendations on how to improve its efficiency. I would like to interview you to determine what goes in your department. Rama questioned the supervisor for 1 hour but found him to be not cooperative. During 1-hour session, Rama spent most of the times asking questions and he did not make any notes on the discussion as to concentrate on the important points from the conversation. Rama gave Mei Ling an oral report on how the interview went and what he learned about the department.
