Subject: Tax Law

During the 2020 FBT year, Lesley was given the use a company car worth $50,000. Because Lesley loves skiing, she requested that a roof rack (valued at $2,000) be fitted to the car for transporting her ski gear.

Between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020, Lesley travelled 50,000km (of which 30,000km was for business use and the remainder for personal use). Running costs totaling $10,000 were all paid for by her employer and Lesley had $250 of out of pocket expenses on the car. Lesley's employer intends to claim GST credits on the benefit. Lesley kept a logbook for a 12 week period.

Required: Advise Lesley's employer of the lowest FBT payable on this benefit. All calculations must be shown.
