These videos are from US news channel CNN and Germany news channel Deutche Wells $($DW$).$ Using our book and my lecture, assess this balloon story according to the three levels of agenda setting. First, in this situation, do you think that the public agenda shaped the media agenda or that the media agenda shaped the public agenda? For example, do you think this concern for the balloon was driven by the media agenda or the public agenda? Please provide some sort of evidence or rationale for your answer. Next, how does the media tell us to think about this story? Please use aspects of framing $($pg$.494)--$selection, emphasis, exclusion, and elaboration$--$or positive or negative valence $($pg$.494)$ to explain how the different news channels want its audiences to think about the event as depicted in the story. Lastly, what other issues do the media channels connect to this balloon event?
