summary/ analysis of Enron: the smartest guys in the room. one page summary atleast I'd like to roll out an extra credit opportunity worth 10
summary/ analysis of Enron: the smartest guys in the room.
I'd like to roll out an extra credit opportunity worth 10 points. It is a 1-2 page memo (as if to your Boss or future Boss) analyzing the documentary film called "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" This film is a documentary, but I should warn you that it is rated R for language and a couple inappropriate and completely worthless!) scenes, so I would not watch it in front of children. You can find the DVD at your local library, at the PPCC library, or on Youtube. It is a very enlightening film, though, on what happened at Enron. Your memo can be in any sized font, double spaced or single, I am not grading for those things. I am grading your thoughts, your analysis. I do actively check for plagiarism. I had a student last semester who basically submitted a Newsweek article! Not wise. It is now reflected on her Academic Record (even though it was an extra credit assignment) and 4 year universities ask for all students' Academic Records when they try to transfer. Here is the layout of the memo: 1) Give a summary of what happened at Enron. Describe the Tone at the top of the company and how it contributed to fraudulent behavior. 2) Identify at least one Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) that Enron violated and how. 3) Identify one Internal Control Principle that may have helped to prevent the fraud. 4) Identify one unethical behavior that you found particularly offensive and why. Everyone who watches this film gets mad about something different! What struck you so? I'd like to roll out an extra credit opportunity worth 10 points.
