SunQuest Destinations invited tenders for building a holiday resort in the rainforest on Vancouver Island. Bob the Builder, who runs a resort construction company, submitted a bid on the construction project. Seeing an excellent business opportunity, he also bought land next to the proposed resort. He intended to build a restaurant on that land, and capitalize on the resort's customers to eat in his restaurant. Unfortunately, the detailed description of the project in the tender invitation document contained a number of significant errors. When SunQuest discovered these errors, it cancelled the project. Bob now owns worthless land in the middle of the forest. Bob sues SunQuest in tort.
